Finding a new signature scent should be a pleasure. This guide explains the information you will see on every Atelier T product, and how to use our shop filters to find fragrances you will love.
Olfactory families
Each perfume belongs to one or more families that describe its overall character. Many of our fragrances combine two or three families.
- Floral – built around flowers such as rose, jasmine, peony or orange blossom. Romantic, soft and elegant.
- Amber – warm, rich and sensual, with resins, vanilla, spices and balsams. Often called “oriental” in older guides.
- Woody – centred on woods such as cedar, sandalwood, vetiver and oud. Grounded, refined and long-lasting.
- Fresh – clean, airy and uplifting, often with marine, green or musky notes. Easy to wear every day.
- Citrus – bergamot, lemon, orange, grapefruit and mandarin. Bright, energising and perfect for warm weather.
- Aromatic – herbs such as lavender, sage, rosemary and mint. Crisp, clean and confident.
- Chypre – a classic structure of citrus over a mossy, woody base. Sophisticated and timeless.
- Fern – also known as fougère: lavender, herbs and soft woods with a smooth, slightly sweet finish. The backbone of many modern men’s fragrances.
- Gourmand – edible, comforting notes such as vanilla, honey, caramel, almond or coffee. Indulgent and cosy.
- Leather – smoky, supple and slightly animalic, often paired with tobacco or spices. Bold and seductive.
In the shop, use the Olfactory Family drop-down to choose one or more families at once.
The notes pyramid
A fragrance changes as it develops on your skin. The Olfactory Structure on each product page shows three stages:
- Top notes – your first impression, usually bright and fresh, noticeable for the first 15 to 30 minutes.
- Heart notes – the character of the perfume, which emerges as the top notes fade.
- Base notes – the deep, lasting foundation that stays with you for hours.
Season
Our Season tag shows when a fragrance performs and feels best:
- Summer – lighter, fresher scents that stay pleasant in heat and humidity.
- Winter – warmer, richer scents that bloom in cooler air and evening settings.
- All Year – versatile fragrances that work in any season.
Selecting Summer or Winter in the shop also shows All Year fragrances.
Time
- Day – fresh, easy-going scents for the office, errands and daytime plans.
- Night – deeper, more intense scents for dinners, events and evenings out.
- All Day – fragrances that move effortlessly from morning to night.
Selecting Day or Night in the shop also shows All Day fragrances.
Gender
Our Female, Male and Unisex tags reflect how a style of fragrance is traditionally worn. They are a starting point, not a rule – the best fragrance is the one you love wearing.

Inspired by
Many of our perfumes reference a well-known fragrance as their inspiration, so you can quickly understand their character. Atelier T fragrances are our own independent compositions. Read more in our Disclaimer.
